Fair Trade

Fair Trade is an alternative form of commerce promoted by various non-governmental organizations and by social and political movements (such as pacifism and environmentalism) that promotes a voluntary and fair trade relationship between producers and consumers. It can be considered a humanist version of free trade.

Once we started establishing contact with the countries of the Global South (what some refer to as developing countries) and got to know their people, culture, and conditions, there was a shift in our company’s direction. Along with quality, another equally important factor emerged: cooperation with producers.

Fair Trade is not an official public organization; it consists of private organizations that are not regulated, audited, or controlled by the government, as is the case with organic farming.
Therefore, there are many different Fair Trade organizations worldwide, with various certification labels, as well as different certification entities, all of which are private.

Since 2003, we began our collaboration with Nicaraocoop, which supplies us with Fair Trade products, and we assisted them in their computerization. Since then, we have also worked with Native in Brazil and with different countries in Southeast Asia.

In 2015, we created CERTUS BIO FAIR, our own Fair Trade organization, to address the challenges and solve the difficulties we faced with the great diversity of Fair Trade organizations and labels. We also created it because we were losing control and couldn't ensure that funds were being used according to our criteria.

By purchasing our products certified by CERTUS BIO FAIR, consumers can use the QR code on the packaging to know before purchasing which project their support will go to. Additionally, all the information needed to contact the origin and verify everything is provided.
